MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Marquette Harbor Rotary Club held an award ceremony at ore Dock Brewing to give grants to 31 different organizations.

The grants altogether totaled over $53k and were awarded to organizations based on the projects they are working on.

Organizations included the Y.M.C.A. of Marquette County, as well as West Branch Township, which are working towards creating an inclusive play area for children. The money for the grants was raised last summer from the Rotary Club’s Fish Boil and Harborfest events.

Marquette Harbor Rotary Club’s Contribution Committee Chair Mark Shevy says these grants help with the Rotary Club’s goal of giving back to its community.

“We do better together than we do individually,” Shevy said. “So, when we can organize as a group to raise funds to support others who are helping people in the community, who, in turn, help us as well. We’re all working together to help those who need help.”

Applications to apply for a Rotary Club grant open in the winter and can be found on the Rotary Club’s website.
