Grants & Applications

Three types of grants are available through the Rotary Club of Marquette Harbor:

1. Small Grants (up to $2,500) to benefit projects and causes primarily supporting Marquette County youth.
2. “Community Needs” Grants (no more than $500) for Marquette County that may occur during the year on a case-by-case, immediate-need basis.
3. Larger Grants for up to $15,000 if we have funds left over from making Small Grant decisions and only to the extent the applicant partners with other Marquette County service clubs as well for the same project and we successfully apply for a District Designated Fund match.

The club evaluates Small Grant requests at a meeting of its Contributions Committee in April of each year; “Community Needs” Grants will be reviewed on an ad hoc basis as they are received by the Contributions Committee throughout the year; Larger Grant allocations will be made as soon as funding is secured from other service clubs and our Rotary District approves a District Designated Fund match (usually determined in May).

Successful Small Grant applicants are contacted to attend an awards event with other recipients, to accept the funds and briefly speak about their project in May. Organizations receiving grant funding are expected to provide assistance to Marquette Harbor Rotary Club during HarborFest and/or the Fishboil. The Contributions Committee will only consider requests using one of the forms below, for which fully completed grant requests have been received via email before midnight on the second Friday in in March (or, in the case of “Community Needs” Grants, as they are received at other times).

Past projects and causes supported by Rotary Club of Marquette Harbor include after-school programs, youth recreation, art, science programs, youth scholarships, and programs assisting troubled youth or youth with special needs. Grants are made possible by the club’s major annual fundraisers, the Fish Boil, held in June at Frazier’s Lake Superior Yacht Yard and HarborFest in August. The Rotary Club of Marquette Harbor is a 501(c)(3) organization.
